Indoor Drone Show for Milton Hershey School’s Opening Assembly

Milton Hershey School opens every school year with an all-school assembly, and this year it filled the GIANT Center. The school wanted its theme for the year revealed in the air, so Illuminate Drones flew fifty drones indoors in front of the student body.

What the show included

The drones spelled the school’s own words: OSA, MHS, TRUE, FAME and ’26, with a film strip, a pair of rotating stars and an American flag between them. The music was Golden, from KPop Demon Hunters, and the students sang along with it.

FAME was the centerpiece. Spartan Fame is the school’s theme for the 2026-27 year, and this assembly was the reveal. It comes from the last line of the school’s Alma Mater, which the rest of the assembly was built around.

Most drone show companies fly outdoors only. An indoor show is a different discipline, designed around your specific room and flown to a safety plan built for an audience seated below it. Three things: ceiling height, clear space to launch from and land on, and a seating plan that keeps the audience clear of the flight area.
